The property in question is located in the Barona area, which is included in the “Zone 6” extending southwest to the city limits. It finds itself on a main road near the corner with Piazza Miani, well set within the urban context and in a strategic position from which one is able to reach all the services that the city has to offers; found in the immediate vicinity are the Famagosta and Romolo stops of the Milan M2 Underground line, the entrance to the A7 MI-GE Motorway and the San Paolo Hospital complex. The area is mainly characterized by residential properties.

Client: Ditta Moscatelli

Project: Place Milano

Intervention Date: 2019/2020

Location: Milano

Sup: 1830 mq

The property in question consists of an industrial unit on the ground floor, a warehouse detached from the main building, but joined by a canopy, and 19 car spaces in the basement. The buildings provide both pedestrian entrances and driveways for vehicle access.

The project aims to regenerate this large area by creating three different types of single dwellings, conceived as a real village, the “Santa Rita Village”. Beginning at the main entrance, the project aims to give the feeling of entering another world by the careful and detailed attention to the choice of materials used. In order to create a uniform consistency within the complex, the roofs are designed with the intention of recreating the concept of unity, even though these are independent dwellings. To achieve this, coloured photovoltaic panels are used, which also recapture the feel of the industrial and market areas in which we are going to intervene.
