The project dealt with the preservation and conservation of a 1920s building façade. The building had survived the war’s bombing and appeared to have various layers of colours all faded by time. Thanks to a historical reconstruction and study of the colours used on buildings of the same era, an suitable colour was established.
The façade was carefully washed, sand blasted and finished in lime-based compounds.
In order to carry out a conservative preservation of the façade, suitable materials were carefully chosen in line with pre-existing elements. After countless samples and respecting the previous historical reconstruction, a particular shade of yellow was chosen.
The materials used to bring forth the original façade were chosen by taking into account all the pre-existing skirtings and mouldings, windows and balconies’ surrounds, stone balconies and cement agglomerates and compounds, which were not altered in any way but simply washed and treated with three layers of water-repellent in order to preserve their original details.
